Product Description
Acceleration™ lubricant enhances rates of penetration (ROP) and increases lubricity in all water-based fluids, including Newpark’s proprietary Fusion™ drilling fluid system. The Fusion system is a uniquely formulated brine system that uses advanced fluid engineering to increase bit life, improve lubricity and manage corrosion.
Benefits
- Reduces rotational torque and drag
- Increases ROP
- Stabilizes the borehole
- Does not causing foaming
Application
Acceleration lubricant decreases metal-to-metal and metal-to-formation friction by covering the surfaces with a tenacious film. This film eliminates surface roughness and withstands high compression forces, providing both boundary and extreme pressure lubrication. Acceleration lubricant is compatible with both freshwater and brines of various pH levels. Field results of Fusion fluid treated with the Acceleration lubricant demonstrate longer bit life and higher ROP in horizontal laterals than invert emulsions or competitor brine systems. The environmentally-friendly Acceleration lubricant is biodegradable. Freshwater formulations pass Microtox at a concentration of 2.5% by volume. It is highly dispersible and compatible across a wide range of monovalent and divalent production brines and engineered brines. It is stable to 150°C.
Treatment Recommendation
Acceleration lubricant is added directly to the fluid system, typically in quantities of 0.5-2.5% by volume to achieve desired reduction in friction.
