Product Description
Reaction™ scale inhibitor prevents calcium scales that occur when drilling with divalent brine fluids, such as Newpark’s proprietary Fusion™ drilling fluid system. The Fusion system is a uniquely formulated brine system that uses advanced fluid engineering to increase bit life, improve lubricity and manage corrosion.

Benefits
- Prevents scale from forming on metal surfaces
- Inhibits under deposit corrosion
- Tolerates high calcium concentrations

Application
Reaction scale inhibitor combats pitting corrosion by preventing scale formation on metal surfaces. A concentrated oxygen corrosion cell forms under scale on metal surfaces in oxygen-rich drilling fluids. These cells aggressively attack the metal surface resulting in pitting and increasing susceptibility to further corrosion. Reaction scale inhibitor works synergistically.

Treatment Recommendation
Reaction scale inhibitor is added to the system at a concentration of 0.2-0.5 L/m3. A maximum pH of 10 is recommended for optimal effectiveness.
