Product Description
Protection™ corrosion inhibitor coats tubing, casing string and other metal surfaces, displacing brine fluids and protecting the metal from atmospheric corrosion. It increases the corrosion inhibition of Newpark’s proprietary Fusion™ brine system by extending protection to surface operations. The Fusion system is a uniquely formulated brine system that uses advanced fluid engineering to increase bit life, improve lubricity and manage corrosion.
Benefits
- Protects pipe and downhole tools that are exposed to air while being stored on surface
- Inhibits oxygen corrosion attack of metal surfaces and the formation of corrosion cells
- Adsorbs physically and chemically on metal surfaces, displacing brine fluids
Application
Protection corrosion inhibitor passivates drill pipe and other tubulars to protect from atmospheric corrosion in preparation for surface storage. It also can be applied to tanks and other surface-only metallic tools and containers. Effective in low concentrations, Protection corrosion inhibitor is environmentally friendly and thermally stable.
Treatment Recommendation
In preparation for surface storage, Protection corrosion inhibitor is either sprayed on wet drill pipe and other tubulars or used as a batch fluid spotted on top of the fluid while pulling out of the hole. This coating method ensures a uniform application that displaces brine from the metal surface.
