OptiPlus™ II emulsifier is a liquid blend of polyamides that provides a stable water-in-oil emulsion. It is designed for use in the OptiDrill™ or OptiPhase™ diesel- or mineral oil-based fluid systems as the secondary emulsifier, either when first preparing the fluid or as a treating agent during drilling.
- Provides stable and cost-effective emulsion
- Allows adjustable concentrations to balance emulsion stability with increased ROP
- Imparts oil-wetting characteristics
- Performs effectively in the presence of contaminants
OptiPlus II emulsifier is effective with NaCl, CaCl2 or NewPhase™ internal phases. It should be used in an alkaline environment. An excess of Ca(OH)2 (lime) should always be present in the fluid.
OptiPlus II emulsifier concentrations should be engineered to the specific fluid design, but a typical range is 2-8 lb/bbl (0.26-1.04 gal/bbl). The emulsifier can be added through the hopper or directly into the pits, providing agitation is sufficient.
