NewPlug™ lost circulation material is comprised of ground nut hulls screened to provide an optimum particle size for all degrees of lost circulation. Fine, medium and coarse grades are available.
NewPlug is a high-strength material and therefore is not affected by pressures. It is virtually non-absorbent and retains its rigid, roughly spherical particle shape in any fluid system.
NewPlug is used in any drilling fluid, regardless of base fluid. Fine grade is often carried in the system at concentrations of 2-20 lb/bbl and is used for seepage losses. Medium grade is used in combination with fibers and flakes for total or partial losses. Coarse grade is used in combination with fibers and flakes for total losses.
NewPlug can be mixed through the hopper or added directly to the pits and mixed into the drilling fluid with the mud guns.
NOTE: The most important aspect of combating lost circulation is particle size distribution. Consequently, it is recommended that a combination of materials be added to ensure a good particle size distribution (PSD).
