Product Description
NewCarb™ lost circulation material (LCM) is ground limestone available in fine, medium and coarse grades over a wide particle size range. NewCarb is ground to exacting specifications and is acid soluble, making it ideal for use in production zones.
Benefits
The versatile NewCarb LCM is ideally suited to remediate seepage losses in production sands.
Application
NewCarb LCM is used primarily as a bridging agent in sand formations where seepage losses are a primary concern. It may also be used as a weighting agent in fluid densities up to 12 lb/gal (1.4 sg). For seepage losses in sands, use a NewCarb and DynaFiber™ LCM blend.
Treatment Recommendation
If seepage losses are detected, NewCarb and DynaFiber LCM’s are recommended in a 2:1 ratio in premixed 25-30 bbl sweeps. If losses persist, maintain NewCarb concentration at 5-10 lb/bbl and DynaFiber concentration at 3-5 lb/bbl in the active system. This combination will provide a wide particle size range and act as a bridging agent under dynamic conditions.
NOTE: The most important aspect of combating lost circulation is particle size distribution. Consequently, it is recommended that a combination of materials be added to ensure a good particle size distribution (PSD).
