NewEdge™ fluid conditioner and fluid loss reduction agent contains humalite ore, rare in natural geologic deposits. This ore’s intrinsic chemical characteristics make it an exceptional fluid loss reducer and fluid conditioner in water-based drilling fluids.
NewEdge water-based drilling fluid conditioner provides up to 50% improvement over lignite with respect to viscosity, gel strength and fluid loss control across the entire spectrum of salt concentrations and bottomhole temperatures.
NewEdge fluid conditioner provides the operator a superior conditioning agent that is applicable in a wide range of drilling conditions. It exhibits exceptional stability at high salt concentrations and elevated temperatures. As an alternative to lignite-based products, NewEdge conditioner provides cost-effective fluid conditioning at significantly lower concentrations than lignite. When solubilized using KOH, it effectively conditions fluid properties while limiting shale swelling and dispersion. This product is also an effective emulsifier for oil-in-water emulsions. It is a low-density, compressible bridging agent in non-aqueous drilling fluids.
Recommended NewEdge treatment levels may be 2-10 lb/bbl, depending upon desired fluid properties as well as downhole parameters and drilling fluid electrolyte (salt) content. As with traditional lignite, pre-solubilization is recommended, but NewEdge powder may also be mixed directly through the hopper. A minimum pH of 9.0 is recommended for maximum solubility and effectiveness. Rheology and gel strength control may be achieved with very low concentrations of the product. Pilot testing is recommended for determining optimum concentration levels.
