MATERIALS

The DURA-BASE® Advanced-Composite Mats are composed of a proprietary formulation that includes specialty resins and high-end polymer additives for enhanced durability and dimensional stability. This special formulation also provides an anti-skid surface and prevents static charge accumulation for added worker safety.

LOGISTICS

46 mats per standard 18-wheeler = 4,186 sq. ft. per load.

STRENGTH

Testing has demonstrated mat tolerance to extreme deflection while maintaining high load-bearing capacity in pure bending [span = 4 feet (1.2m)]. Pure compressive load capacity is approximately 600 psi (40 kg/cm2). Compressive loads in excess of 1,000 psi (70 kg/cm2) have been observed in laboratory tests.

TRAFFIC

Traffic tests on differing soil conditions have shown the mats to be suitable for an average expected life in excess of 15 years. Fatigue tests have shown no appreciable damage at 60,000 cycles [6 inch (15cm) deflection of 8 foot (2.5m) span]. NMIS routinely utilizes the mats for unpermitted loads over subgrades of 2 CBR and above.

STATIC DISSIPATION

Plastics can exhibit low electrical conductivity. This property can lead to a buildup of static charge on the plastic surface, which can eventually lead to a small discharge in the form of a mild shock. The surface material of the DURA-BASE® Advanced-Composite Mat contains an additive that helps increase the surface's electrical conductivity and allows any charge buildup to quickly dissipate. This design feature virtually eliminates the potential for static buildup on the surface of the mat.

LOW TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCE

DURA-BASE® Advanced-Composite Mats are deployed worldwide as temporary roads and temporary worksites, including places that experience extreme cold conditions. Our mats have been successfully used in environments where temperatures of -30F (-34.4C) were observed for an extended period of time.
