Product Description
GageCon™ fluid conditioner is used to counteract the negative impact of anionics on the performance of the GageDrill™ mixed metal oxide (MMO) drilling fluid system.
Benefits
- Allows the GageDrill system to drill lignite stringers
- Facilitates use of anionic additives
- Provides the means for restoring the rheological properties of the GageDrill system that were inadvertently exposed to anionics
- Helps in reducing swelling of water-sensitive formations
Application
Negate Impact of Anionics: GageCon fluid conditioner may be used to pretreat the GageDrill system in the event that contamination by lignitic formations or other anionic substances is anticipated. Otherwise, post-contamination treatment may be used to recover rheological and suspension properties.
Stabilize Water-sensitive Formations: A secondary function of GageCon fluid conditioner is inhibition of water-sensitive clay and shale formations.
Treatment Recommendation
If lignite stringers are anticipated, the system should be pre-treated with 0.5-1.0 lb/bbl. For post-contamination treatments, pilot testing is recommended to establish the appropriate treatment level. Inhibition treatments will be dictated by the formations being treated. If used after contamination, treatment levels over 2 lb/bbl may be required.
