Newpark Strives to Protect and Preserve the Environment Using DURA-BASE Composite Matting System
Environmental management is the systematic process of actively overseeing and controlling an organization's environmental impact. It involves implementing strategies and practices to minimize adverse environmental effects while maximizing sustainability and compliance with environmental regulations.
Newpark is committed to operating in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations. We strive to protect and preserve the environment using our DURA-BASE Composite Matting System. DURA-BASE offers many eco-friendly advantages, including reduced carbon emissions associated with logistics, minimized impact on natural habitats, and reduced time needed for full site reclamation. In addition, DURA-BASE is fully recyclable to bolster sustainability efforts further. We partner with our customers, government agencies, and the public to protect, restore, and enhance environmentally sensitive areas.
BMP INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE
Installing and maintaining Best Management Practices (BMPs) is crucial for preserving the environment and managing resources responsibly. Newpark adapts various guidelines and techniques to help reduce pollution and promote sustainable land use. During our DURA-BASE installation, erosion control, sediment basins, and vegetative buffers are implemented to protect water quality and minimize environmental harm.
Maintenance is equally important to ensure BMPs we put in place continue to function effectively over time. Regular inspections, repairs, and adjustments to changing conditions guarantee that these practices remain vital in safeguarding our natural resources and sustaining a robust environment for future generations.
SWPPP MANAGEMENT & INSPECTION
Planning is essential to any job, especially Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs). SWPPPs are comprehensive documents that outline strategies to prevent stormwater pollution on construction sites. Effective SWPPP management involves implementing the plan's recommended measures and monitoring their effectiveness in reducing pollutants entering stormwater runoff. Regular inspections are crucial to ensure compliance with regulations and the plan itself. These inspections identify potential issues, such as erosion control failures or improper waste disposal, allowing for timely corrections to prevent environmental harm.
Newpark Mats & Integrated Services will work with you to create a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan or follow one you provided and ensure effective implementation. We will help you determine your needs and create a clearly defined plan that follows all national, state, and local stormwater pollution prevention regulations.
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) include:
- National Pollutant Discharge Eliminations System (NPDES) permitting
- Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control (E&S) Plans for initial "as built" drawings
- Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) monitoring and inspections from certified professionals
- Notice of Termination (NOT) filing
We have three decades of experience creating and implementing Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) for the utilities, oil, natural gas, and construction industries.
WETLAND, STREAM, & HABITAT IMPACT MITIGATION
Mitigating project impacts on wetlands, streams, and habitats is our proactive approach to minimize and offset the adverse effects of human activities on our delicate ecosystems. Newpark can assist with thoroughly assessing, planning, and implementing strategies to reduce disturbances and preserve the natural balance when constructing DURA-BASE temporary roadways. DURA-BASE is precisely engineered to provide safe and efficient worksite access in all wetland areas while protecting the landscape, plants, vegetation, and wildlife. We aim to create harmony between project success while protecting our vital natural resources and ensuring a sustainable coexistence.
EROSION & SEDIMENT CONTROL
When gaining access to utilities and pipelines, Newpark Mats & Integrated Services is the optimal solution to provide your erosion and sediment control. We will help you avoid the need to contact the Environmental Protection Agency, state, or local environmental agencies by following a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for erosion and sediment control.
When installing and using a temporary access road, you must control the wash-off when it rains to prevent the relocation of sediment and other contaminants. The primary objectives are to protect water quality, maintain soil stability, and preserve the integrity of surrounding environments. Regular monitoring and maintenance are crucial to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of erosion and sediment control measures. We can work from your SWPPP or help to create one to support clearing the right of way to restore the soil to its original location.
Newpark Mats & Integrated Services provides:
- Silt Fence
- Geotextiles and straw blankets
- Filter sock and wattles
- Check dams
- Seed and mulch
- Hydroseeding
- Concrete washouts
When construction clears material from a right of way to gain access to a utility or pipeline, it is likely pockets of sediment become exposed. We will work with you to first protect the sediment with hydroseeding, seed and mulch, filter socks, silt fences, and other geotextiles. Once the project is complete and we remove the DURA-BASE mats, we will repair any disturbance to the ground during that time, including reseeding and relocating dirt.
Our crews are certified as needed to ensure compliance with all state, local, and client requirements for every project, following specific guidelines for each region as necessary by law.
