ConneCT™ gel is a bio-polymer liquid viscosifying agent designed for use in Newpark’s proprietary ResurreCT™ coiled tubing system for temperatures up to 275°F (135°C). For temperatures above 425°F (218°C), ConneCT™ HT gel is recommended.
- High viscosity without suspension or thixotropic properties
- Allows for gravity separation of drill solids in surface tanks
- Improved penetration in hard-rock formations
- Wide density range
- Shear thinning
- Positive control of fluid carrying capacity
- No ecological or toxicity problems; biodegradable when mixed with fresh water
ConneCT gel is used as a viscosifying agent in conventional and polymer-based fluids. The viscosifier disperses and yields rapidly in freshwater, potassium chloride brines and sodium chloride brines, as well as calcium chloride brines up to 1,320 kg/m³.
ConneCT may be mixed through a conventional hopper or over the top of a mixing tank that has good agitation. It is designed to be easily dispersed throughout a system to allow maximum yield. ConneCT may be mixed in a tank with recirculation pumps and jets to provide good agitation and shear.
Typical Physical Properties
|Boiling Point||492-566°F (256-297°C)|
|Flash Point||>257°F (125°C)|
Handling and Storage
ConneCT gel is extremely slippery. Use caution if spilled. Keep container tightly closed. Use appropriate hygiene, clothing and personal protective equipment suitable for work being done. Review the SDS thoroughly before using this product.
ConneCT gel is available in 5-gallon (19-liter) pails and 275-gallon (1,041-liter) totes.
